An unfolding of the art film Deságue (2023), the photo-performance triptych A boca que tudo come I, Plantei as memórias no estômago onde possam florescer, and A boca que tudo come II investigates fabulation as an aesthetic and political strategy for the re-enchantment of the world. Between performance, cinema, and archive, the work is born of a return to family memories in Tracunhaém (Pernambuco), making ancestry a living territory of invention. By incorporating earth as matter of the body, Vitória Vatroi strains the marks of coloniality inscribed in the landscape and displaces the boundaries between memory, territory, and imagination. The Serra de Trapuá asserts itself as organism, archive, and witness to the violences of coloniality, its extractivist process, and a cosmology of the global North in which the human is set apart from Nature. It is from this encounter that hybrid beings and speculative landscapes emerge, where fabulation becomes a practice of symbolic regeneration and of creating futures rooted in the coexistence of multiple forms of life.
