Cosme e Damião indo pro caruru (2026) é uma pintura a óleo que configura-se como território íntimo e ritualístico. Remetendo ao culto do caruru de São Cosme e Damião, a prática do caruru, entendida como oferenda, celebração e partilha, ativa dimensões de coletividade. Ao tensionar memória, ritual e imagem, a pintura se insere em uma perspectiva pluriversal, onde corpo, cultura e espiritualidade não se dissociam. Assim, a obra propõe uma leitura em que o corpo negro não apenas ocupe o centro da composição, mas se afirma como eixo de produção de sentido.
Cosme and Damião on Their Way to the Caruru (2026) is an oil painting that takes shape as an intimate and ritual territory. Referring to the caruru feast for Saints Cosme and Damião, the practice of caruru, understood as offering, celebration and sharing, activates dimensions of collectivity. By bringing memory, ritual and image into tension, the painting positions itself within a pluriversal perspective, in which body, culture and spirituality are inseparable. In this way, the work proposes a reading in which the Black body not only occupies the center of the composition, but also asserts itself as the axis of meaning-making.
