A través del uso del grafito, la pintura y el ensamblaje, esta obra manifiesta la presencia de Yemayá, y las aguas que protege. La estrella (el símbolo adinkra Nsoromma) nos guía. Cada punto rojo es la sangre que nos conecta a esos ancestros que fallecieron en altamar. La obra busca crear una conexión directa entre nuestras prácticas espirituales ancestrales y la justicia climática y racial. Nos plantea lo siguiente: ¿Cómo nuestras prácticas espirituales nos conectan con la naturaleza? Al reconectar con el mundo natural, entendemos que solo habrá justicia a través de la descolonización.
Through the use of graphite, painting, and assemblage, this work manifests the presence of Yemayá and the waters she protects. The star—the Adinkra symbol Nsoromma—guides us. Each red point represents the blood that connects us to those ancestors who died at sea. The work seeks to establish a direct connection between our ancestral spiritual practices and climate and racial justice. It poses the following question: How do our spiritual practices connect us to nature? By reconnecting with the natural world, we understand that justice can only be achieved through decolonization.
