In ecology, "Muvuca" is a sustainable technique for restoring the natural biome of a region. It consists of taking some soil from the area to be restored and mixing it with a variety of native seeds; this mixture is then returned to the ground all at once. In this process, it is the soil itself that "decides" which seeds will sprout first and which will remain dormant for a while, waiting for the ideal conditions to develop. The term comes from the word "Muvúka," from the Kikongo language, a Bantu language, meaning a gathering of people in moments of celebration or festivity. In this work, the artist delves into these concepts, exploring the interactions between ancestry and diversity, with nature as a map toward a possible future.
